To apply for an Entrance Scholarship or Bursary, you must have a completed and accepted admissions application to Luther College High School. Students who have not been formally accepted should wait for their acceptance letter before applying for a scholarship or bursary.

Please have all your required documentation ready before you submit your Entrance Scholarship application. Depending on the scholarship, this may include: a letter from a pastor, a character reference, proof of musical or athletic ability or proof of a rural address.

If you are applying for a bursary, you must complete your Apple Financial (third-party) application first. Your bursary application will not be considered until Luther College receives your Apple Financial report. Your Entrance Scholarship application is confidential and only used to make decisions regarding the awarding of entrance scholarships and bursaries.

Scholarships

Please choose the scholarships that you would like to apply for. You may choose more than one if you believe you meet the criteria for more than one scholarship. Successful applicants will only receive one scholarship or bursary.

Scholarships are awarded for one year only.

Dr. Leonard O. Bradley Scholarship – $1500Awarded to a new Grade 9 student, with preference given to rural students with a financial need. Please submit proof of your rural address in the Supporting Documents section.

Allan Christiansen Memorial Scholarship – $450Awarded to a new Grade 9 student who has a keen interest in learning, shows a caring attitude towards others, and has above average scholastic achievement. Please submit a character reference in the Supporting Documents section.

Harold & Joyce Dietrich Entrance Scholarship – $500Awarded to a deserving new Grade 9 student.

Erna Huget Memorial Scholarship – $650Awarded to assist a new student with preference given to a student with abilities in music. Please submit proof of musical ability in the Supporting Documents section.

Fredrick & Magdalena Krell Scholarship – $450Awarded to a new student who demonstrates qualities of compassion, sensitivity, desire for learning, reverence for life, and faith in God. Please submit a reference letter from your pastor in the Supporting Documents section.

William Frederick Krell Scholarship – $700Awarded to a recipient with a keen sense of academic pursuit, demonstrate a need or hardship, financially or otherwise, such as physically, mentally, emotionally, cognitively or spiritually. Preference will be given to a student who exemplifies the characteristics of integrity, justice, humor, kindness and compassion. Please submit a character reference letter in the Supporting Documents section.

J. Clifford MacKinnon Memorial Scholarship – $1900Awarded to a deserving new Grade 9 student.

Bursaries

Reminder: You must complete an application to Apple Financial (an independent third party) to be considered for one of the following bursaries. Bursaries are awarded to each applicant for four years provided he/she remains in good academic standing.

Community BursaryThe Luther College Community Bursary is awarded to deserving students with financial need who demonstrate academic achievement and a keen interest in learning, a positive attitude, proven leadership abilities and a strong desire to succeed. This bursary replaces most other forms of financial aid that Luther College High School offered in prior years. This bursary may cover up to the full tuition to Luther College High School (in consideration of the result of the Apple Financial assessment) and may continue through Grade 12 providing students maintain good academic standing, and continue to meet eligibility requirements, including the requirement to complete an Apple Financial Services assessment annually. The Luther College Community Bursary covers only tuition. It does not include fees related to IB, Film, Phys Ed, EAL, dorms, lunch or bus plans.

Kramer Family BursaryThe Kramer Family Bursary was established by the Kramer family for Indigenous students who show academic promise but due to financial constraints and socio-economic factors would not otherwise attend Luther College High School. This bursary covers annual tuition fees, dorm fees and may provide for other additional costs provided the student maintains good academic standing. It is awarded to Indigenous students who demonstrate academic promise, a positive attitude, a willingness to work hard, and a student desire to succeed as well as financial need.

Nelson Family BursaryThe Nelson Family Bursary is awarded to an academically-minded and well-rounded student who has demonstrated financial need. The bursary was established by Dwight and Christine Nelson in 2021. Their sons, Jeremy and Adam, both attended the high school. Dwight also served on Luther’s Board of Regents.

Ritenburg Family BursaryThe Ritenburg Family Bursary is awarded to students who have demonstrated financial need and show a particular interest in the performing arts (music, dance or drama). It is a renewable bursary of $1,000 per year for up to four years (Grades 9 to 12). This bursary was established by Jim and Jacquie Ritenburg to recognize the positive influence the school had on their family. Jim graduated from Luther in 1977, and daughter Laura graduated in 2004.
