Graduation & Convocation

Students must apply to graduate through UR Self-Service. Before applying, please take the time to read through the student guide.

Ceremonies

Luther students have the option to attend both the Luther College ceremony and the University of Regina (U of R) ceremony, or they can choose to attend one.

Spring Convocation

  • Ceremonies: Held in June. The Luther ceremony is usually in the morning, and the U of R ceremony is in the afternoon.
  • Application Deadline: Must apply by January 31 of the year of graduation.
  • Program Completion: Must be completed by April of the graduation year. This includes students who complete their programs in December or April.

Fall Convocation

  • Ceremonies: Held in October. The Luther ceremony typically takes place the night before, and the U of R ceremony is in the afternoon.
  • Application Deadline: Must apply by July 31 of the year of graduation.
  • Program Completion: Must be completed by August of the graduation year.

  • Fall 2024: Thursday, October 17
  • Spring 2025: Thursday, June 12
  • Fall 2025: Thursday, October 16

Convocation Awards

Luther College Medal of Distinction

Awarded at Spring Convocation, this medal honors a Luther student with a superior academic record (85% UGPA or higher) who has also demonstrated leadership and service in the community. The community includes faith communities, Luther College, the University of Regina, and society at large. Graduation Photos

Graduating Luther students will receive an email invitation to schedule their photo session with Cornerstone Photography (2877 Park Street). They provide the Luther gown (blue) and the appropriate hood for your degree. There is a $35 sitting fee, and you will receive fifteen poses for optional purchase. Your photo will be included in the Luther composite of all graduates for the academic year, displayed at Luther College. To be included in the composite, photos must be taken by Cornerstone Photography by October 31.

Graduate Retention Program

If you select “yes” on your grad application, the U of R will apply on your behalf. More information can be found here.
